The Button Club is offering members an exclusive members' evening at the World acclaimed Peace One Day concert at Royal Albert Hall.
PEACE ONE DAY – a major concert for global peace at the Royal Albert Hall on the 21st September 2008. The line-up will feature performances from Annie Lennox, Bryan Adams, John Legend, plus special guest appearances including Jude Law. There will also be a gala screening of “The Day After Peace” - the acclaimed new documentary film, which premiered during the 61st Cannes Film Festival. The film, by director and founder of Peace One Day, Jeremy Gilley, features Kofi Annan, The Dalai Lama, Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, Annie Lennox and Jonny Lee Miller.
Peace One Day began as a film project founded by British filmmaker Jeremy Gilley in 1999 to establish the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. In 2001 the Day was unanimously adopted by UN member states as 21 September annually - Peace Day. Peace Day is ceasefire/non violence day. The day is not just about war between nations, it is also about the violence in our homes, communities and schools, and towards our environment. As such it relates to every human on the planet. In 2007 over 100 million people were active on Peace Day, in 192 countries. There were life-saving initiatives in 14 countries, and over 80 activities in Afghanistan alone where 1.4 million children were vaccinated against polio.
This special celebration at the Royal Albert Hall will raise awareness of Peace Day. To find out more please visit www.peaceoneday.org |
